And I Came Tumbling After!

Hi people! I wanted to write about something more serious because I was going to update my blog after such a long time, and then this happend...

It was tea time on a rather dull Friday evening. My colleagues and I sipped on some piping hot coffee and munched on some yummy snacks, while they spoke about their children and how difficult it is to get them to do their homework and I was wondering how it was relevant to me. I was glad the tea session was over and were going back. Our office's canteen is located on the 10th floor, it is like an open cafeteria and we generally prefer walking down to our floor (3rd floor). So, like any other day, we were chit chatting and climbing down the stairs.

At a certain point, I got so bored of their conversation, I started walking ahead, and even though I have this habit of texting while climbing down the stairs, I actually didn't look at my phone. We were on the 5th floor and I just wanted to get to the 3rd floor real quick and log-out my system and head home. I took a step and the next thing I know, I was moving so quick, with my neck twisted, my head rolling,  no control over my body and I landed THUD one full flight of stairs later. I now know what tumbling actually means!

All the people from the floor gathered around me, while I was trying to breathe. The shock had left me shivering and too weak to stand. I lied down for a good two minutes without answering anybody's question  because I couldn't, and they panicked even more. Two minutes later, somebody got me some water and I tried to sit up and my knee screeched in pain. I slowly got up and walked limped to the pantry.

What I saw then, was hilarious, there were 4 security guards who came panicking to actually lift me and take me to the medical room, but I was sitting and smiling and that freaked them out. After about five minutes, the office doctor came running to see me and she was confused if it was the same person she had come to see as I was laughing my head off the about way I had fallen. I asked her to give me a pain killer as my left knee was hurting, she was so confused she thought it was all a joke. My colleague had to raise his voice and only then she actually ran to get me a pain killer. Hahaha!

I was then taken to the dormitory and made to rest. I called my mother and told her what happened and I could literally hear her heart pound while I was bursting out laughing. She thought something had hit my head and I had lost all my sanity. I called my best friend and told him what happened, he first enquired about how badly the stairs were damaged and I would be really disappointed had he not done that. But, I kept laughing and laughing some more.

I slowly managed to come down and all my team members were really worried but they were amazed and amused to see braving the situation with laughter and joy.

Here's the thing, I have seen people falling off the stairs only in movies and serials, and I never thought it could happen the exact same way in real life. When it actually happened to me, I felt like and I still feel like the female protagonist of some really lame Hindi serial. I am Gopi Bahu ( Like they say, I am Batman! :P). That, is just making me laugh so hard about the entire situation even I am wondering if something has really gone wrong with my head.

Everybody is getting pissed at me for laughing about something so serious and also for riding my two-wheeler back home like nothing happened. I now have the left half of my body swollen and in pain. That sucks! Why can't I have some temporary amnesia like they do in the TV shows??!!

Everything said and done, I am thankful to God that nothing serious happened and for showing me how good it is to look at big things in life from a lighter perspective. :)

  10. At the risk of sounding like Grandma Grumpus, STOP TEXTING AND WALKING AROUND. Sheesh.

And also, I can totally understand laughing after a tumble, I suspect I'd do the same thing :P

Good that everything is still in place and you are in one piece :) Teke, you.
