Love re-connection!
Ah! I had forgotten all about her.
Life is so weird right? When you have priorities set, you forget some people were even a part of your life. I was now wondering how I could afford to even forget about her. Thank God for WhatsApp and Facebook, I had fumbled upon her and I had a huge urge in me to reconnect.
I had been dealing with a bad break up, I was over the situation but I was still stuck trying to be friends and not hurt the other person. But one small effort at re-connection, changed my world.
I had to let go of my past and its baggage, I did it unknowingly and effortlessly. I di not think it was possible for me to do that before. I had moved on so far ahead now, I could see the new life that was waiting ahead of me,
Even though she and I had had a "text-flirty" past back when we were in college, it was never anything beyond. I then started dating someone else and everything was normal until my relationship did not work out anymore and had to end. I had not imagined that ending would open a whole new life.
This girl was nothing like how I had known her in the past, it was like she had morphed into a beautiful butterfly. When I say beauty I do not mean only outward, she was gorgeous on the inside as well.
She was into artsy stuff and that made her all the more interesting. I wanted to get to know her better, talk to her a lot more and even hang out with her. I had felt this long ago, when I was getting into my first relationship, the feelings that had faded away, were resurfacing and I knew I had to hold onto them.
I also had to contemplate on how ready I was to get into another relationship so soon. I thought I had had enough of that crap on one hand and I wanted to dive into this head first on the other. I was confused but I was not complaining.
We started talking, we staring talking a lot and we had to meet. Yes, she was different but I was open to different things now, I could sense a change in my whole being. I was, I decided, definitely in love.
The last time I had knelt on my knee and asked a girl out, it had not worked. Though I was apprehensive, I gave it a shot, and she said yes, without a minute's hesitation. I was euphoric!
What began then only kept spiraling into a humongous mass of love and contentment. When two souls that are meant to be, come together, there is zero effort and resistance and is the most beautiful thing in the world.
I got her to meet my friends, they loved her and were happy that I was happy. I met her friends and we got along well. I began to notice how things that I thought mattered to me before, no longer did. How I had different opinions and ideas about some things now versus how I thought about them before. How I had also morphed into a new version of me.
I had changed, I did not know if it was for the good or bad, but it was different and I loved it.
What would anybody with logic do in such a situation? Embrace this beautiful life and ensure it stays forever, right? I did exactly the same thing. I decided to marry her to ensure myself a one way ticket to being happy forever.
I walked to my parents and straight up spoke to them about her and they had no reason to disagree, contrary to all my years of knowing them, they were extremely happy. I went up to her parents and asked them to trust her life with me, they had no reason to disagree either. The parents met, the engagement date was finalized and I could not have been happier.
I am now happily engaged to be married to the love of my life. It happened within no time. A few months. I know it is the best thing to have happened to me though. I cannot wait to be married. I cannot wait to unravel all the beautiful moments life has in store for me. I am lucky, I am blessed.
True love is nothing less than a miracle unraveling itself before your eyes.
P.S: My first post of this year had to be based on love and happiness. I will write more from now on. :)
P.P.S: This story is loosely based on my friend's life and is my way of congratulating him and his partner and also wishing them to stay happy and blessed. :) :)
