I Love You!

Reema's thoughts were ending in circles. She was unable to understand and comprehend what had just happened.

Her thoughts went back to the day he had charmingly, asked her out for the first time. The way he had slyly, held her hand for the first time. The way he had called to tell her how much he liked her. The way he had gone down on his knees and said," I Love You! Do you love me to?". Gosh!

She had blushed, she had smiled. She had giggled, she had cried. She had to say yes. She had said yes.

Five years and a steady relationship later, a Tsunami of a horrible phase had washed into their lives. A phase ...she had assumed. Tears streamed down her eyes as she realised the phase was not a phase any more, it was a cruel part of life.

She was determined to make all wrongs right, for them. She wanted to apologise and put all bad things behind. It had been months, she had to end this unnecessary brawl. She had called him out and with a lot of courage and stood in front of him, looked him straight in the eye and said, "I Love You! Come back to me, please do."

His reaction left her stunned. He called her desperate. He said, he hadn't seen anyone as cheap as her. He was ashamed to have known her, he yelled. He regretted being with her, he screamed. He walked off, jerking her off his way.

What was it that she had said? It wasn't wrong, was it? Hadn't she said the exact same words, time and again? Had he asked her to say the same words over and over again?! How did a girl become cheap, if she expressed her love? How? How did she become desperate for professing her genuine feelings?! How could " I love you" hurt anyone?!

She stood still but her mind was spinning. She wanted to ask so many questions but her lips seemed to be sealed. She wanted to run from this feeling but her feet refused to budge.

She wailed her heart out. She was unstoppable, oblivious to everyone around. She cried not because she was disheartened but because she was disappointed in herself, for making the wrong decision, five years ago.

With a bold heart and a smile, she walked away never to look back. She had to make all wrongs right. This time, for her, and only for her.

  2. Well, there it is, some big life lessons sealed with a dose of immaculate brevity. It with such insouciance that you've put the story that I can't help but feel great to have bumped into it. :) As for the story, yes, you never know how knackered the same happy glimmering days might get in a spate of events. But hope shall still be with us to take us to the checkpoint where things change. :)

  3. Time changes and so does people! That was really cheap of him to speak like that! Glad she took the bold step; else she wouldn't be able to move on!

  5. People change, but never in love. So I guess he was never in love with her. Most men only enjoy the chase, not the love phase.

She is better off without him.
